We have been busy over here on the farm. As you know when Jeff and Gavin hiked the Appalachian Trail last year, we sold a lot of animals just so that it would be a little easier for me while they were gone. Slowly, we're adding them back! We've added a greenhouse and the garden this year is bigger than ever. It's a fun and exciting time around here and I'm loving it.

I've wanted a greenhouse for a long time. Jeff built it for me this past winter. We collected old windows from friends locally and slowly pieced it together. It was definitely a labor of love and took a lot of time to complete but isn't she so pretty!? As you can see, I started a lot of seeds back in January and February which have turned into beautiful plants. In the cold season we heated it with a heater which we powered with a drop cord from the house. The plan is to do something different this coming winter. Our power bill was crazy!

Let me introduce you to the new animals. We have our little Nubian Buck, Tyson. We're hoping to start milking the goats once they are bred and have the little sweet babies. Next, we have our new rabbits! They are New Zealand. Previously we had Silverfox. I don't have a reason for switching breeds. I just wanted something new. Our plan with them is to breed but also sell the rabbit poo. It's an amazing fertilizer. We just need to figure out a collection system first. Then, we have the new Chocolate Orpington hens. I love the Orpington breed. It is probably my favorite chicken breed. When I saw the chocolate for sale at a local feed store, I had to grab some. Luckily, they are all HENS!! Lastly, are the Dexter heifers. We drove a long way to pick these ladies up. They were both exposed to a bull for a couple months. We're hoping they are bred and will calve early fall.
I think that's a wrap up for now. I'll work harder to update more often now that it seems life is kinda calming down a bit. But who am I kidding??? It's never calm!
