small green potato plant growing through straw

This Week On The Farm . . .

Spring has sprung and I'm here for it! I love the warmer weather. I'm a warm weather kind of person. I do not like the cold. I have been a little slower with getting the garden and everything ready for planting season but it's coming together.

I'm super happy about a little project I did this week. I made my own plant stand. Now before you get really happy about it too you need to understand that it's not perfect but it's perfect for me. I'm just not skilled with the hand tools that Jeff uses all the time. I did the job though and I'm happy about that.

Here's what I did: I bought two 3-step precut stairs from Lowe's, two 1x4x8' treated pine lumber pieces, and one 2x4x8 treated lumber. Then I cut them off and nailed (Jeff would have screwed it) it all together. Jeff will tweak it when he gets back and make it even better but it's definitely able to be used now!

I'm also glad that my idea for potatoes is starting to show that it might actually work. I planted some potato seeds along the side of my raised bed gardens where there was really just empty space between the garden and fence posts. I added some dirt and then piled lots of straw on top after planting the potatoes. I just checked yesterday, and I have some greenery sprouting up! That's a good sign. I have sweet potato slips on order and they will go in one of my new larger garden beds. We eat a good number of potatoes here so figuring out the right way to grow them is really important to me.

Lastly, I tested out a new size and pan for my sourdough sandwich bread yesterday and I think it will work out perfectly. I love making sourdough because it is gut friendly and so yummy, but I needed a better way to package it for sales. I found that way! I think it makes the bread look a little more "professional" and still has the same great taste. I will start selling the bread in May!

Any questions?
Be blessed; Not stressed this week!
