We have baby goats!!! I absolutely love baby goats. They are my favorite farm baby animals. Better than chicks, better than rabbits, better than pigs. Goats are the best. Georgia, our original Savanna doe had twins this past week. She has 2 little bucklings. And they are adorable. Initially, they were having trouble nursing but after several attempts we got them situated and they are now doing fine. We joke because we have a rooster that stays in the pasture with the goats. We are pretty sure that he thinks he's a goat too. We have tried a guardian dog; we've tried guineas but so far this rooster has stuck around and been the most successful as far as protection for our goats. I think he's a proud daddy.
Our garden is in full force right now. We have more cucumbers than we know what to do with and slowly we're collecting tomatoes. Our tomatoes this year aren't turning red very fast but other than that they are growing like crazy. We've also collected lots of peppers. The raised beds always seem to produce a lot of really good healthy peppers. I've been canning as much as I've collected from the garden. The farm basket sales are still doing well. People love home grown food and I can't say that I blame them.
Lastly, we're still doing as many hikes as we can on the weekends. We found this really neat spot not far from home that had an amazing view. We had never been there before. It is call Hibriten Mountain and there's a "launch" spot for maybe hang gliding. But it seems it's not kept up anymore. It was a good hike on a gravel road mostly. The hike was about 5 miles total. Supporting Jeff and Gavin's training before they leave on the Appalachian Trail is mine and Garrett's focus right now. I'm trying my best to be as supportive as possible for this dream goal of theirs. They tested out their trekking poles this time and decided they mostly do like them. It's just something else to get use to doing while you're hiking.
Have a great week. Be blessed; not stressed.
